Alueellinen jätehuoltoviranomainen Kymen jätelautakunta lähettää tällä viikolla kirjeen niille kotkalaisille kiinteistöille, joiden biojätevelvoitteen hoitamisesta ei ole saatu tietoa. Biojätteiden erilliskeräys tuli pakolliseksi omakoti- ja paritaloille Kotkan, Haminan ja Kouvolan suurissa taajamissa 1.5.2024 alkaen. Velvoite perustuu jätelakiin sekä Kymen jätelautakunnan jätehuoltomääräyksiin ja koskee keittiössä syntyvää biojätettä.
